These projects are not just aesthetic improvements, but also crucial measures to ensure the safety of road users and protect pedestrians from water splashing from potholes. Quality infrastructure contribu-tes to a better quality of life for all residents.
The installation of safe pedestrian crossings is essential to the safety of our citizens, especially our seniors and families. I am committed to installing on demand flashing traffic signals on Queen and College streets, adapted to the needs of pedestrians, to improve safety at pedestrian crossings.
Some of our streets in Lennoxville are in very poor condition and require not only new asphalt resurfacing, but also a base design that meets ASTM (American Standard Testing Material) standards, either with a soil-cement base or wire mesh under the asphalt to better withstand the freeze-thaw cycles of our winters.
I propose a complete overhaul of the sidewalks on Queen Street, on both sides, between College and Academy, to make them more accessible and safer for everyone. This initiative aims to facilitate pedestrian traffic, particularly for our seniors and families, while incorporating safety features such as wider, more residential sidewalks, adapted to the freezing and thawing conditions of our winters.
